Fine and Performing Arts
Everyone knows of Missouri S&T’s commitment to science and technology, but many are unaware of the campus’s flourishing performing arts programs. Opportunities extend far beyond offered courses in the arts and humanities. Pursue your interests by participating in music, theatre and dance groups, or simply by enjoying the Campus Performing Arts Series. Many groups are organized and directed by students themselves.
With two major stage productions each year – one of which is traditionally a musical – the theatre department is always bustling with activity. Everything from special effects to the house orchestra is produced in-house at Leach Theatre. If you’ve got the acting bug but the stage isn’t your thing, the Perfect 10 Improv troupe promotes general nonsense through performances across campus.

If you prefer the sound of music, seven instrumental groups welcome you. Whether you’re looking for the jazz band, marching band, S&T’s symphony orchestra or just want to take private lessons or participate in smaller ensembles, music faculty welcome performers of all talents and abilities. Three vocal ensembles enrich the picture – especially the Madrigals, Missouri S&T’s period Renaissance performance troupe. All groups work with your demanding schedule and make it fun to perform.
Of course, the arts aren’t limited to the stage. Many students enjoy taking courses in history, political science, philosophy, foreign language or pursue a minor in the arts to complement their major.
Study Abroad
Would you like to study in a foreign country? Learn about new cultures? Enhance your language skills? Study abroad offers an opportunity beyond formal classroom education. Today’s demanding job market requires global knowledge and a sense of being "at ease" in other cultures. Some students pursue co-op and internship opportunities abroad.

Missouri S&T has established programs with more than forty international universities throughout Europe, South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. Students may study abroad for a summer, a semester, or even a whole year. A complete listing of opportunities is available on our International Affairs Office website.
The Missouri-London Program is a special endeavor with Britain’s Imperial College. Courses are taught by faculty from eight participating Missouri universities. Participants have an opportunity to explore the culture of London as well as take day trips to Bath, Cambridge, Oxford, Stonehenge, Paris and more.
